News from the Board

Greetings, EOEE 4 th Day.

The October Walks are just around the corner (men’s walk October 16-19 and women’s walk October 23-26), and with only a few days left we still need more men pilgrims for the walk. Please consider sponsoring a pilgrim. The applications can be found on the website www.eoee.org.

There is also a section on the website under the More tab at the upper right-hand corner called What is Emmaus? that can help you talk to the pilgrim you are inviting to attend. On this page there is a link to a video you can share with your pastor, church or friends to help others understand the “WHY” or purpose of Emmaus.

Even though the pilgrim list is full for the women’s walk, it is never too early to start getting applications for the Spring Walks as well, to be added to the current waiting list for women.

The Weekend Lay Leader for the October Walks are Chris Vaughn and Becky McCullough. They have led their teams through team formation and are now ready to serve on the weekend. As a Community the success of the weekend depends on you and your service to the team and pilgrims in the many forms of agape and service.

I am thinking about the introduction of the Community at the closing on Sunday, when you are asked to stand:

  • If you carried luggage or attended sponsor’s hour

  • If you served meals

  • If you participated in the 72-hour prayer vigil

  • If you wrote agape

  • If you attended the candlelight service

  • If you are attending closing

Please be part of these activities as I look forward to seeing you at Camp Wanake.

We will also be electing at the October Board meeting the Community Lay Director for 2027 and the Weekend Lay Leaders for Walks 109. Please be in prayer for the people who will be asked to serve in these positions.

Charlie Brechmacher
